Satisfy those sweet craving with this quick and simple Caramel Sauce. Drizzle it over some ice cream, dip some apple slices in it, make a milkshake with it or add it to any sweet treat - the possibilities are endless!
INGREDIENTS
1 cup caster sugar
85 grams unsalted butter, room temperature and cut in cubes
½ cup heavy cream (use less cream if you prefer it thicker)
¼ tsp salt (use 1 tsp for a salted caramel sauce)
1 tsp vanilla
METHOD
1. Over medium high heat, pour the sugar in a saucepan and stir every 15 second until melted, about 10 minutes. The sugar will clump before it starts to melt, be careful it doesn't burn.
2. Remove from the heat once it's melted and has dark golden colour. Stir in the butter, stirring continuously while it bubbles until it has completely combined. Add in the leftover ingredients, pouring the cream slowly while whisking together.
3. Once combined, let it cool and taste to see if it has enough salt to your liking. Allow to cool completely before transferring to airtight jar. Store in fridge up to one month.
